Peaches and Sunbeams

peach flowers thrive in frost-free weather... like me :)

This season has been a slow one for this blog. Well, with the warm and sunny summer we’re having, we tend to spend our time outdoors --- either doing some gardening or just basking in the sunshine. And it's a good time to catch up with some reading. After all, when the cold season comes, I’ll terribly miss being outside and having the warm sun on my back.

And when it's too hot by noon or early afternoon, taking a short nap in the relatively cool shaded part of the house became a routine. With window shutters closed, the semi-darkness and the stillness of the afternoon lull me to sleep. With a good siesta, I don’t feel too tired at the end of a long summer day.

Oh, and speaking of nice weather, we had a frost-free, clement spring which allowed our peach flowers to bloom throughout the season. And with the generous sun these past months, the flowers turned into these sweet, juicy fruits that are quite refreshing on a balmy afternoon. Too bad, I don’t know how to make jams with the rest of the fruits we weren’t able to eat. I should really try to hone my cooking skills (ok, that’s wishful thinking *sigh*).

Well, I hope we will not only have another good peach harvest next year, but also another sun-filled summer. I know it’s a bit absurd to wish for the next warm season when the current one is not yet over. But I'm already dreading the coming of the cold days. This summer is quite pleasant and sunny, so winter might be really freezing and dreary. Well, that’s still weeks or even months away. For the meantime, the weather seems to be quite "peachy" (pun intended) and I’ll try to make the most of it *smiles*.

looking at these fruits, I guess this is where the expression "peachy" comes from :)

Wow!! what beautiful pictures. We had some peach trees in my childhood home and the childhood neighborhood. I love the sight of a peach tree in full blossom. The colors on your pictures are so refreshing.

to everybody: our peach tree and i thank you for your wonderful comments:)...

to nussaibah: i'm afraid our garden is not much to look at right now :( ... it hasn't rained for about a month now so plants are drooping and the grass is brown... except for the trees :)...

Hi Lareine,
I am at my parents blogging while they play with my almost 2 year old grandson. They like to have him alone, but aren't supposed to lift much weight.

Anyway, my dad has his Safari set to enlarge things, which is really cool, because I could see the fuzz on your lovely peaches. I enjoyed your blooming Friday and other posts, too.
