Message in a Bottle Tag

I was tagged by Bogie --- a nice young lady who's gracious enough to send me this meme (I hope her midterm exams are over :)). I'm supposed to impart a message. And so after going through lots of proverbs, quotes, sayings and personal experience... choosing an adage only to discard it in favor of another, I finally settled on this one.

Now, I'm instructed to pass this on to 5 others, so I invite these bloggers to share their messages or thoughts with us --- Flip my Blog, Jana, SharatIsland Paradise and Gracey.

Here's the instruction:

You are about to send a virtual Message In a Bottle across the Blog Ocean. Leave a message in the sand or on the bottle. Write anything you wish. Be a pirate or a poet. Serious or silly. Anonymous or not. What message would you like to send out to the universe?

1. Compose a message to place in your virtual bottle.
2. Right click and SAVE the blank graphic above.
3. Use a graphics program of your choice to place the message on the picture.
4. Post the Message In a Bottle meme and your creation on your blog along with these rules.
5. Tag a minimum of 5 bloggers - or your entire blogroll - to do the same. Notify them of the tag.Your virtual bottle will remain afloat in the blogosphere ocean for all blogernity (That’s a Mimism for blog + eternity.)

So, if you are tagged by me, go over to Mimi’s and ADD your site to her Mr. Linky list and place your blog’s name and url in a comment HERE to let Mimi know you've completed the meme; Mimi will add it to the master list of message bottles.Email mimiwrites2005 at yahoo.com if you have questions.Participation is optional.Just remember she has a dungeon….and some of you are STILL there from the Band Meme.

Not-So-Wordless Wednesday

Popeye Village, Anchor Bay, Malta

This is my quite-not-so-Wordless Wednesday:). Sweethaven, more commonly known as Popeye Village, is situated in Anchor Bay, Malta. The village is named after Popeye for this is where the 1980 movie version (starring Robin Williams and Shelley Duval) of the cartoon was filmed. I find the choice of film location appropriate for Popeye is a sailor (with an anchor tattoo on his arm) and this bay is where old anchors were left, hence, the name of the bay. The film set was later turned into a theme park. Even if you’re not a fan of amusement parks, you would still enjoy your visit due to the picturesque appearance of the village with its wooden houses and their shingled roof and, of course, the crystal clear water that invites you to take a dip and enjoy the cool water on your sun-kissed skin.

In summer, boat rides are available so you can enjoy the view from the sea and visit other nearby coasts/beaches. Too bad, we went there during the winter season, so we missed this opportunity. But still, it was a memorable visit --- we had a good dose of sunshine, not many tourists (in fact, we almost had the entire park to ourselves), plus this magnificent vista of the hypnotizing sea, the rugged limestone cliffs and the straight-from-the-cartoon hamlets.

Since today, March 5, is the feast day of St. Olive, let me finish this entry by singing “He's strong to the finich cause he eats his spinach, he's Popeye the sailor man. Toooot toooot!”

Another Award

I guess this must be my lucky day. I received another award from my good friend Maya. I believe I'm not only fortunate because she's giving me these, but even more because I have someone like her.

May, you're great (albeit a little bit on the loony side:)).

I'm sharing this award with Will, Pisio, Christoff, Luciano, Nussaibah and Jose. They might not know it, but I find their blogs great :)

Awards

I'd like to thank Maya for giving me these awards. It's nice to start the week with such citations. They brighten my day (especially since the sky looks overcast).

In return, I'd like to share this award to Rojoy and Jane , my two newly-found co-bloggers:)

Taking A Moment

A goéland (seagull) in Île de Brehat, Brittany France

In this world where everything seems to be slipping through our hands too quickly, where many are trying to get ahead in life in the fastest and easiest way possible, we tend to forget what is really important to us...what makes us get up in the morning and get through the day... what enables us to look straight in people's eyes or more importantly, what allows us to look at our own reflection.

We become trapped in material things, fame and glitz; sometimes unknowingly, other times consciously because the world seems to revolve around who has the most. You get the feeling that world's dictum "Move, reach and take things, as fast you can, or be left behind."

But it’s worthwhile to be still for just a moment, get our bearings and re-evaluate what we want. After all, we are not only defined but what we have, but even more by what we have become. Maybe, we are so caught up in winning the course that we barely know what we are running for. Nothing is more tragic than making it to the finish line only to realize we are in the wrong race.
