Not-So-Wordless Wednesday

waves breaking on rocks off the Côte de Granit Rose (Pink Granite Coast), Brittany, France

I believe one of the most spectacular views of the sea is when a rushing wave breaks on rocks and turns into a fine spray of water. There’s an exhilarating feeling when you see the wave coming and crashing into the boulders and a billow of mist and foam results from the impact. It must be an overwhelming experience to stand on one of these rocks, waiting in excitement for the approaching wave yet uneasy with the thought it might carry you to the sea… then finally feel it pounding on the rocks and enveloping you in a haze of fine water droplets.

But I’m not that much of a dare-devil, so I just content and will keep on contenting myself in watching it from a distance :))

I love the sea, too. I grew up outside of Boston and lived across the street from the beach. We also used to go down to The Cape quite often and walk the jetties. Our cat used to bring us 'presents'; water rats. I guess it's can't always be picturesque!

You are wise to heed the power of the sea.

It is beautiful to see, you capture this perfectly. I would stand on the rock, but the thought of being carried out to sea scares me too.

Very nice! I love the ocean. This reminds me a bit of the rocky California coast.

Hey Lasine! great pic. I love nature too and have been in oceans for better part of my professional life. Would return for views of nature.

to willthink4wine: i envy you --- it must be lovely growing up in a place with the beach only a stone's throw away... i can imagine your reaction when your cat bring you its days find (water rat) and expects you to be happy about it:)... i had the same experience with our friend's cat (when we were staying with them)... i woke up to find it with a dead bird in its mouth and offered its catch to me:)

to indrani: i miss the feeling too... but it's not that funny when you're wearing eyeglasses and you have to keep wiping it :)... but i love the feel of the water droplets on my face:)

to gypsy at heart: i wouldn't dare challenge the sea... it can be a friend on a hot, placid day... but can be dangerous when you don't respect its "moods"...

to maya: good thing i beat you to posting the photo:)... we would love to go back there, but of course, we have to check with the weather...i hope it would be less rainy soon :)

to sandy's notes: i have the same wish and fear too... so all i can do is look at it from a distance... and wait... and wish :)...

to gattina: the sound it makes is music to my ears... it's difficult to capture the scene in photo... but as they say, patience is a virtue... and i was rewarded with this :)

to baby amore: i guess it's that time of the year when everybody longs for a sunny day at the beach (we're having a rather cold spring)... thanks for the visit :)

to catsynth: same here, i love the ocean, too... and California is a nice state--- it has deserts, plains, mountains and vineyards... white beaches and rocky coasts... sun in the southern part and snow-capped mountains in the north...

to sindi: i have the exact feeling... and yes, you should see this place in person... it looks more spectacular when you see it with your own eyes...

to homeandgarden: thanks for the nice comment and the visit... normandy is such a nice place :)

to mama-meji: i have the same feeling as you... the sea is really one of the greatest works of nature... not only by its form and appearance, but also because it evokes a gamut of emotion, in whatever state it is...

to gkan64: it must be wonderful to spend a lot of time in the ocean and witness if not all, many of its facets... thank you for the visit and the wonderful comment... i hope i will be able to put more pictures that you will enjoy :)

to analyse: yep, it's good to have "her" (our common friend) around... not only for the beauty of her place but also the beauty of her personality:)

to portia: thanks for the wonderful compliment... the view is really breathtaking... there's really something about those waves...

to stephanie: i wonder how it is in the desert... there might not be seas and waves, but i'm sure the dusk and dawn must be spectacular there with the wide vast desert in the foreground:)... i'm glad my photo brought back good memories:)...

to lisa marie: thank you very much for the compliment... it took me some time to take this shot:)

to lalaine: i'm really happy you appreciate my entries... thank you very much for your encouraging comments.... it really warms the heart... and i would also like to thank you for not being too bored with my entries... they can sometimes be too looong:)
