Looks a little scary. Without those red eyes it would be almost camouflage by the ground for sure!

Yeah...I got a few of those in my yard. Did a few WW on 'em too. Ours are poisonous so we've been on a Toad relocation project every night.

Toads give me the creeps...almost as much as snakes...maybe more. Your picture couldn't be looked at long, but from what I saw it was a good one. Thanks for stopping by Spatter and for the heartfelt comment about my mom.

to everybody: thanks for the visit and taking the time to comment about our menacing-looking-but-actually-just-cautious toad :)... i'm actually a bit scared, but then it looks so still, thus i got the courage to take a closer head-on shot :)... and it sure does know how to blend... if not for my husband, i wouldn't have noticed it...
to indrani and gallicisa: i have to squat down really low to take this photo and no sudden movements to avoid scaring him...
to wildcasthree and lisa: they're lovely to have in the garden, but poisonous ones are really something to be careful with....
