Wordless Wednesday

our resident toad in our backyard

Meet our resident toad. Usually, you will only hear it croaking but once in a while it graces us with its presence *grins*.

He knows how to blend--but you found him!

Looks a little scary. Without those red eyes it would be almost camouflage by the ground for sure!

That toad looks a little menacing - LOL! Happy WW.

We had one too in June and July, but haven't seen him lately. Must have moved on to wetter pastures, as we're having a drought. Happy WW

What an angle of shot! It looks as if it is ready to jump. You must have squatted down to take the shot.
I liked the photo.

What a great close-up of the toad! I've never really been able to study the face of a toad before.

And thanks for your very nice and encouraging comment on my blog...

Yeah...I got a few of those in my yard. Did a few WW on 'em too. Ours are poisonous so we've been on a Toad relocation project every night.

This is super cool, Lareine!
I love to compose my toad shots that way but the ones here do not oblige!

I think that head on angle really shows their attitude.

Hi Lareine! Thanks for your touching comment in my blog - FINALLY! And I couldn't believe that you were visiting my geocities site. I didn't think people were actually reading it (well, I don't have any posts there really) :) You're always welcome to read my blog without making your presence felt ;-) Now, I have to read yours!

What a great shot of Mr Frog.
ps: I hope you won't mind if I link you.

Its camouflage is amazing! You're braver than me getting that close ;-)

Thanks for stopping by my WW!

Have a great day!

Toads give me the creeps...almost as much as snakes...maybe more. Your picture couldn't be looked at long, but from what I saw it was a good one. Thanks for stopping by Spatter and for the heartfelt comment about my mom.

he kinda looks like a rock the way his color blends with the color or the hearth!

to everybody: thanks for the visit and taking the time to comment about our menacing-looking-but-actually-just-cautious toad :)... i'm actually a bit scared, but then it looks so still, thus i got the courage to take a closer head-on shot :)... and it sure does know how to blend... if not for my husband, i wouldn't have noticed it...

to indrani and gallicisa: i have to squat down really low to take this photo and no sudden movements to avoid scaring him...

to wildcasthree and lisa: they're lovely to have in the garden, but poisonous ones are really something to be careful with....

to gattina: if it has a crown, maybe i would have been tempted to kiss it *giggles*...

to makis: i'm glad i didn't give you the creeps... and i'll link you, too :)...

Now that's a frog with an attitude!

darla, it looks like a bully... but i'm really happy to have him around :)...

Could you come back to my site and answer a question I asked after your comment on the flowers? Please?

lareine said...

darla, i hope i was able to help you with the comment i left re: blanket flowers... i'm still rather new with gardening, so i might have mistaken the flower for something else... but in any case, they're really pretty and i'd like to have one, too :)...
